Veronica Mccann - Night 2 Dirt Late Model Nationals

Australian Dirt Late Model Nationals - Perth Motorplex
Night Two – 27th January

After a disappointing night one of the Dirt Late Model Nationals, McCann entered night two of the Title sitting 22nd in points. With the car all sorted after the night one drams Veronica girded the number 50 machine in position eight for the last qualifying heat of the weekend. McCann, desperate to make up ground, put the Intimidator on rails around the Perth Motorplex and raced up to a third place finish.

“I thought we had overcome our problems after that great run in our final heat. Mathematically I knew coming into the final night that even if I won that heat I still would not have enough points to make it straight into the main”.

With a lack of points to make a direct position in the A-main, Veronica started the B-main out of position four. The ten lap final bid would only see the top four across the line advancing through to the main event. It certainly wasn’t a dream run for the West Aussie. Veronica’s National Title hopes ended with engine woes during the final chance qualifier.

Congratulations must go to Brad Ludlow on being crowned the new National Champion. Ben Ludlow followed his son Brad in a close second, with USA’s Ron Miller rounding out the podium places.

The next meeting on the agenda is the Kalgoorlie Fireball at Kalgoorlie International Speedway February 2nd.
