Veronica Mccann - Night 1 Dirt Late Model Nationals

Australian Dirt Late Model National - Perth Motorplex
Night One - 25th January

Nationals time certainly has not turned out the way Veronica had hoped to kick off her first Australian Dirt Late Model Title. No power steering for both time trials and her first heat race action meant that McCann literally wrestled the 2200+lbs vehicle to a best time of 20.689 and rounded out the field in 9th for the first qualifying heat.

"Time trials play such a big part in your overall points for the A main, at that stage I knew something was wrong with the steering and knew that I had to salvage whatever points I could in my first heat race and that meant not pulling off with zero points. These cars are massive, and with no power steering I can easily say that I have never worked so hard in a racecar!”

With the problem sorted, McCann took a well deserved break in between heat races and was fresh and ready to go for her second qualifying effort of the evening which landed her a fourth place finish. Veronica currently sits 22nd in points after night one.

The teams now have a one night break and head back to the Perth Motorplex on Sunday, 27th January to round out the final heat race and all important A-Main which will decide Australia’s 2008 Dirt Late Model Champion.
